5 Auto Maintenance Services Never to be Skipped
Your car is made up of a variety of systems that work together in order to make the wheels turn. Most of these systems, or parts within them, require routine maintenance in order to remain in optimal operating condition. All cars and trucks, no matter what you drive, require auto maintenance of some sort or another at different mileage intervals. If you look in the car's owner's manual you'll find the service schedule for your particular auto. This will detail what services are needed and at what point in the car's life, as mentioned this is generally listed in mileage markers. Be sure to keep up with this auto maintenance if you want your car to last for many years. These are 5 common auto maintenance services never to be skipped.
The most frequent service your engine requires is also extremely important. Skipping or putting off oil changes can lead to major engine damage due to unwanted metal on metal contact occurring.
Cooling System Flush
The cooling system is tasked with keeping the engine cool during operation. It uses a specialized fluid to do so. Over the miles this fluid collects contaminants, such as metal flakes, dirt and other debris, that prevents it from properly cooling the motor. For this reason it needs to be drained and refilled at certain times in order to keep your car from overheating.
Air Filter Replacement
Replacing the air filter is a very inexpensive and easy task, as well as an extremely necessary one. If the air filter were to become clogged it would prevent the vehicle from producing the correct air and fuel mixture that it so desperately needs. The end result would be a vehicle that uses too much gas, which is called running rich.
Your transmission will also need to be serviced on occasion. This includes flushing the transmission fluid and, if equipped, replacing the transmission filter. This will keep your car shifting right and prevent the build up of transmission gunk.
Be sure to always stay on top of your brake system's health. It too requires brake fluid flushes and of course the replacement of the brake pads, which should be done prior to them completely wearing out!
